#LonelyPlanet #travel writer and photographer, @bridgetglee, took this shot of Volcán (Volcano) Concepción while standing in the water of Lago de #Nicaragua. This volcano is part of the twin-coned volcanic island of #Ometepe, sitting alongside Volcán Maderas. The world’s largest freshwater island was once home to the Nahuatl people – Ometepe means ‘two hills’ in their language – who fled the Aztecs in Mexico, and you can still find ancient petroglyphs dotted around the island. #travel

#LonelyPlanet writer, @bridgetglee, is currently on the road in #BuenosAires (#Argentina), and snapped this shot of celebrations at the city’s Immigration Festival. Buenos Aires is an astonishing metropolis that looks a bit like Europe, but with an edgy Latin American twist. Did you know that of the 60 million people who left Europe for the Americas in the 19th & 20th centuries, the vast majority ended up in one of two countries —1. the USA / 2. Argentina? #travel

#LonelyPlanet writer, @bridgetglee, is currently on the road in #Spain. She took this shot of the stunning baroque façade of the Teatro Arriaga in #Bilbao’s Old Town. This venue commands the open spaces of El Arenal between Casco Viejo and the river. It stages theatrical performances and classical-music concerts. #LPinSpain
